Character Education Grant – Closing date 6th Feb

21 01 2015

The DfE is making grants available through the Character Education Grant to help schools ensure that more children develop a set of character traits, attributes and behaviours that underpin success in education and work, such as:

  • Perseverance, resilience and grit.
  • Confidence and optimism.
  • Motivation, drive and ambition.
  • Neighbourliness and community spirit.
  • Tolerance and respect.
  • Honesty, integrity and dignity.
  • Conscientiousness, curiosity and focus.

The programme will fund a series of projects through two key funding routes: sustainably expanding existing provision which is supported by a strong evidence base; and investing in new and small-scale innovations which show promising approaches to character education.

Applications are open to:

  • Schools.
  • Colleges.
  • Universities.
  • Local authorities.
  • Voluntary and community, and social enterprise organisations.
  • Other profit or non-profit organisations.

Whilst there are no set maximum or minimum amounts for bids, as an indicative guide for bidders, the DfE would expect grants awarded to be in the region of £50,000 to £750,000.
