Forest School Quality Improvement Framework

If your Forest School programme is up and running, you may find referring to the framework useful. The document (quite large so has been split) is available to downland from the Forest Education Initiative website

FSQIF Overview – This self evaluation framework was developed as the result of an FEI pilot project and aims to help improve and promote quality provision of Forest School (FS) experiences. The framework is based on a number of question, evidence and action planning prompts under 4 quality indicator areas and statements:

A         Learning Environment

B          Health, Safety & Well-being

C          Delivery and Communication

D         Learners

Each has a checklist (series of questions) to answer and collate evidence for at your own pace. This process should help you to identify your own needs for CPD. The supporting documents aim to help you in collecting evidence and with interviewing and observational skills.
